Music is not a human invention. It is a discovery, a resource present throughout our universe. We draw music from our world like water from a spring, then alter it to suit our needs; to entice, to repel, to rejoice, to lament, to heal.

This elementary fact is what drew me to the ritual music of Blood of The Black Owl, whose song Wind Eye provides the rolling bass sample at the heart of Black Owl’s Blood. My deepest respect and appreciation to the Black Owl himself, Chet W. Scott, for his blessings and permission to repurpose his art into ritual music of a different kind.

Chet releases his musical medicine through his Glass Throat Recordings imprint, home to some of the most viscerally beautiful music I’ve ever heard.
